If someone told me that I would be painting outside in Provo, Utah on Jan. 5 I would tell them that they must have never been to Utah in January. Anyway, that is what I have been doing the last 2 days, painting.

It hasn't been much painting because there is just a little window of time that it is warm enough but I managed to paint a desk and chair for someone and this cute little twin bed. I guess there's always a 1st for everything.

Can't Believe Summer is about gone.

Where did the summer go? I have been getting quite a few emails about our yard sale. Well, we have decided to change things a little (I know we did this before and didn't stick to it, but this time it is for sure). Anyway, we are not having the yard sales anymore. It got to be way way too much work, transporting, storing and transporting again more than 200 pieces of furniture. So now this is how we are doing things and it has been working good. We are finding furniture, painting it, advertising it, selling it as we get it finished. I am sending out emails from our list, putting it on the blog, and advertising it on KSL.

If there is anything you are looking for, just email us or call us. You are welcome to come see what we have and what we are working on. If you want it to rain then just ask us to plan a yard sale. it will come. Besides the rain, the yard sale was great. It was fun seeing all our friends again and meeting new ones. Thanks for coming and thanks for helping us wipe down furniture again.

We are going to clean up our work areas (they really need to be organized) and then start painting again.

I will be posting new things we do, so keep looking, maybe there will be something that you are looking for.

Winter is still here

I guess it's only February so I can't expect it to be spring yet, but I can't wait for spring. Painting is so much more fun when it is warm. But anyway, I just completed this hutch. I don't know why, but I am so excited how it turned out. It measures 44 1/2 wide 18 1/4 deep 70 1/2 tall. All three doors open on the top and 2 outside doors open on the bottom. I had it setting by the table that was in the last post and they sure look good together. $350.00. - SOLD

Well we haven't started painting yet. We got our paint booth finished but with it being so cold by the time we got it heated up the day would just about be over so we're waiting for the temperature to be in the 30's at least. I was just thinking last night how fast time goes by. The year 2000 seems like it was just here and it was 11 years ago. Unbelievable!!! I guess time does fly when you're having fun.

We are thinking now that we still want to have the yard sales. We have so much fun doing them (even if they are a lot of work). We'll keep doing things the way we are doing them now and then when yard sale time comes we'll give more information then. I guess we better get busy.

I picked up quite a few of these 1960's brushed aluminum chairs and have been re-upholstering them in our down time of painting.

They are very nice and sturdy. If anyone would like these in their choice of fabric, let me know and I'd love to do them. They are $35.00 ea ($30 with your fabric)

Also, I picked up some new children's furniture that I put together that have turned out so cute.

I guess winter is here, but look at all the leaves. Trees are great. They provide shade and beauty, but they also provide work.

Today we just got 2 new beautiful pieces. We're having a hard time deciding what color to do them so we thought we would post them and see if anyone is interested in them and we could do them whatever color they wanted. The buffet measures 72 inches long 20 inches deep 32 inches tall. The armoire measures 42 1/2 inches wide 20 inches deep 60 inches tall. They will be somewhere around $200 ea. Another Great Yard Sale and Changes Coming

It was fun seeing everyone at the yard sale and meeting new friends that came. We even survived the rain, thanks to everyone that helped us wipe down furniture!

Sometimes changes are good and sometimes not so good but we are hoping the changes we are making are good. This is how we are changing:

Instead of having 2 large yard sales a year, we are going to email everyone on our list monthly with pictures, dimensions and prices of the furniture we have for sale. If anyone is interested in anything, just contact us by email or phone to set up a time to come see what we have. Or, as always, you can contact us anytime to see if we have what you are looking for. If you would like us to take you off the list, please let us know. Or if you have any friends that would like to be on the list, please let us know that too. We will also update our blog with the new furniture that we have finished.

If anyone has suggestions for us, please let us know.

We sold over 260 pieces of furniture at the sale and storing that much furniture and getting it transported from where we paint to where the sale is is a lot of work. We are hoping this change will make it less exhausting for us.

We are planning on having our yard sale sometime in September but our storage spaces are bursting at the seams so we decided to sale some pieces so we'll have more room so we can continue to paint more stuff. Where's the summer going?

It doesn't seem like it should be July already. I guess we've been busy, so time flies when you're having fun. Thought I would post a few pictures of what we have been doing. If you see anything you might be interested in, give us a call or email us and I can give you dimensions and prices. I know, the pictures aren't very good but I don't think about taking pictures until we have everything stacked on top of each other. The first 2 pictures of the 3 tall white bookcases and hutch actually go together but we can sell them separately. The 3rd picture is a light blue buffet. Next is a heavy duty drop leaf table that opens on both ends for storage. The 4th is a turquoise (doesn't really look turquoise in picture) cabinet. 5th is a large table that would be great indoors or outdoors. Next is a hall tree made out of an old door and last is actually a sewing cupboard but the sewing table part that folds down can be taken out and has shelves in it.

Back to Painting

The last couple of weeks we have found some fun pieces of furniture. Most of them don't even need to have too much repair done (that's the kind we like). So we are back to painting. I hate to think about it, but fall will be here before we know it (we haven't even had a spring yet) so we have to keep busy. A couple of days ago, I took a break from painting because I had a project that I was itching to do. Last summer or fall a yard sale friend called and asked me if I wanted an old player piano. She said it was beautiful. So I said sure, but I didn't know it would just about take a crane to move it. Her son brought it over and between my husband and son and her son they barely slid it off the trailer. My husband did some research on it and decided it was way too big of a project to restore it; but the wood pieces were beautiful so I just couldn't junk them. So.....my husband dismantled it (it took forever) and I saved the main parts to make something with. I decided a bench would be good. So here is my finished project. I'm probably a little weird or maybe it is just because I made it, but I'm really excited about it. ...... I'll post some pictures of other finished projects soon.

We have never had such a hard time getting good weather for our sale. In the past we set a date and we had the sale. Weather was never an issue. Last year our spring sale was around March 19, but this year it might be June before we can have it. Hope for good weather next week. Can't wait to see everyone.

We have been patiently waiting for a Monday-Saturday to be good weather but now we are getting very inpatient. Hopefully next week the weather will cooperate. Ron had a great time shabbying this piece. It's a great storage cabinet. We're still looking at the weather. A sunny next few days but it shows rain everyday next week (The report changes daily so we haven't given up yet on next week). Last year our spring show was in March. How did the weather cooperate last year so early. This year it might be May before we get to have our spring sale.

This week, that is, Wed. - Sat. would be a great week to have the yard sale BUT we need Mon.-Sat. to be good weather so we can set up on Mon. and Tues. So... we hope that the week starting the 19th will be good weather to have the yard sale. Our storage places are bursting at the seams and Ron can hardly walk around in his house because it is sooooooo full of furniture. These pictures are of a few pieces that we decided to fix up but leave them in their original finish because they were so pretty that way. Bench - $80.00.-Sold, Chair - $70.00, Little book case - $30.00. Child's rocking chair (has a crank in back you turn to make it go higher) - $50.00. Spring Yard Sale Just Around the Corner

Our Spring Yard Sale is just around the corner. We are planning on having it the 3rd or 4th week of April. We just have to wait and see what the weather is going to do and then I will send out emails and post it on the blog. Right now we have around 230 pieces of furniture and we are still working hard to finish more. This hutch I just finished and am having a hard time finding a place to store it so if anyone is interested it is an Ethan Allan Corner Hutch and it measures 67 1/4 from the inside corner out and 75 1/4 from the inside corner of the other side. The sides can be switched around the other way too. It is actually 6 pieces. $450.00 - sold

Guess who was right. It's amazing what a little cleaning, fixing, and painting will do. This piece had so much dirt on it and needed some repairs but it turned out a very nice piece of furniture. It's old but very solid and sturdy. Measures 42 1/2 wide 19 deep 22 tall. $85.00 - sold

This little child's table and chairs is so cute and would be great for Christmas. Red waterfall desk looks much better when it's not in a shed in front of a freeway sign. I'm not sure what you would call the black cabinet. It's a little bit short to be a credenza (I looked that word up and it is the same as a buffet) but it sure is a nice piece. Doors open on each side and there is a shelf in it.
